True Deliverance

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
-Romans 12:1-2

Its amazing how God can truly change your life. Being born into sin, there are many things that we need to turn away from in order to live the life God has called us to. We wrestle and fight with these issues, and it seems that we are fighting a losing battle. During this time, it is important to ask God to change our hearts, and our mindset. You see, a lot of times we recognize our actions are contrary to God's Word, but we are reluctant to change because it doesn't feel wrong to us. Or, we feel bad about what we are doing, but we feel like we can't control ourselves. We love God and want to please Him, but our flesh is still holding on. Our lives don't change because we are still behaving destructively.

To be delivered means to be set free; or to hand over, or surrender. When you hand your issues over to the Lord, He will indeed set you free from those issues. He will make it so that you no longer even have the desire to do what you used to do. In fact, when approached with the opportunity to do that thing, you will be able to turn away from it with no problem. That very thing that you used to enjoy will no longer be an issue.

You may have been pleading with God to get rid of your bad habits and desires, and it seems like you are hitting a brick wall. God wants us to make a conscious effort to change, and He will do the rest. That means avoiding people and situations that would compromise your faith. The enemy will tempt you, but you must remember that He who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. God requires us to control our actions on the outside while He does the work on the inside. Over time you will realize just how far you've come.

How much we can bear

It is true that God will not put more on us than we can bear. Many times we quote this scripture when we are going through, but deep down inside, we feel that we are already at the limit of how much we can actually bear. At this point, we question God, and wonder where He is.

As Christians, the enemy attacks us harder than the world. Our problems are often a domino effect, with one thing going wrong leading to the whole house of cards falling down. How many times have you said (or thought), "I feel like Job. Everything is going wrong right now." I know in my own experience, this often happens when my finances are out of whack. Having a lack of funds is a major stressor. Bill collectors are calling, stuff may even be cut off. The stress of not knowing how you are going to get out of a hole will cause everything else is your life to crumble. It puts a strain on your relationship, and all of a sudden you have an attitude with everyone. When you're broke, your kids will easily send you over the edge. Let them not eat all their food, or waste something, and see how you react to that. Your job will stress you out more than ever. You will realize just how much you dislike your job when you put up with all that you do on that job, and you still can't seem to make ends meet.

Through all this, we must remember to bless God. Stay in your Word, and keep praying. When you feel like you've done all you can, get together with other Christians, and have them stand in agreement in prayer with you. I know, it may sound religious, but trust me it works.

My husband and I have been struggling financially. He's been looking for work, and I am just returning to work from maternity leave. It has really put a strain on our marriage. We decided that we were going to go to bible study series on marriage and relationships. I began to see an instant change just by applying what we learned. But we were still dead broke. This week, we prayed with another pastoral couple, and they stood in agreement with us on our finances. What else was there for us to do? Friday, it got even worse. I was expecting my first paycheck only to find out that I wasn't getting paid for another two weeks. Reality really set in then. I wanted to just throw in the towel. But I got up, and continued on like usual. In the middle of a meeting at work, I got a text saying one of our bills had been paid. Thank you Lord. When I got off, I found out that we received a check to cover our house payment for this month and next. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus!

When you are ready to give up, remember that God is faithful. They key is though, is that you must remain faithful to Him as well. He really truly will not put more on you than you can bear.

Welcome!

God bless you and thank you for stopping by. The Lord has been leading me to a distinct and very special ministry for young women. It is my prayer that this site will be a blessing, and that you will receive what it is that God has promised you. Many are called, but will you be one of the few chosen?
